Tooth-Colored Fillings
Tooth-Colored fillings are an excellent way to improve your smile and restore your teeth to its proper function and natural-looking appearance. Our office provides 2 types of tooth-colored fillings; indirect “CEREC” restorations and direct Composite fillings.
“CEREC” restorations are tooth-colored fillings that are outstanding for restoring medium to large cavities. “CEREC” restorations are fabricated outside the mouth, but inside the office, using state-of-the-art CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacture) technology. “CEREC” restorations require only 1 office visit to complete.
After the decay is removed and the tooth is prepared for restoration, we use a computer to acquire a “3-Dimensional Optical Impression” of the tooth. The “CEREC” restoration is then designed on a computer and milled from a block of special ceramic material. This special ceramic has been developed to provide physical properties similar to enamel. In fact, this special ceramic is the closest material we have to enamel. The “CEREC” restoration is then polished and bonded onto your tooth, restoring your tooth to a strong, pristine state.
“CEREC” restorations are strong, natural-looking fillings that fit precisely and restore your teeth to proper form and function, for many, many, MANY years.
Composite restorations are tooth-colored plastic fillings that are placed directly in the mouth. Composites are an excellent choice to restore teeth with small cavities in one visit.
After the decay is removed and the tooth prepared for restoration, we apply the soft composite directly to the tooth. The composite is then sculpted to the contour of your tooth. After the composite is cured (hardened), it is shaped and smoothed for fit and comfort. Composite restorations, though not as durable as “CEREC” restorations, provide years of dependable service.
